Allicin Supplement 20% contains a defence molecule that has a wide range of biological applications. It is produced during tissue damage from the non-proteinogenic amino acid alliin in a reaction that is catalyzed by the enzyme alliinase. Allicin is physiologically active in microbial, plant and mammalian cells, where it can inhibit the proliferation of both bacteria and fungi, or even kill cells outright, including antibiotic-resistant strains like methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus (MRSA).

In mammalian cell lines, which includes cancer cells, allicin induces cell-death and inhibits cell proliferation. In plants allicin inhibits seed germination and attenuates root-development. However, in sub-lethal concentrations, allicin has a variety of health-promoting properties, for example the cholesterol- and blood pressure-lowering effects are advantageous for the cardiovascular system.
