Description
Organic Astaxanthin 5% supplement contains a particular carotenoid produced by the microalgae Haematococcus Pluvialis. Carotenoids are organic pigments that naturally occur in plants and other photosynthetic organisms. These organic pigments are responsible for giving many plants, fruits, and sea life their vibrant colors. There are over 600 known carotenoids, which are broken down in 2 groups xanthophylls and carotenes.
One of the most important carotenoids in the xanthophyll groups is the super-antioxidant astaxanthin. In fact, it is actually one of the most powerful natural antioxidant that are known. The natural substance has up to 550 times the antioxidant activity of Vitamin E and 10 times the antioxidant activity of beta carotene.
Antioxidant
The pigment is known for its potent antioxidant properties. It has a higher antioxidant capacity than many other antioxidants, including vitamin C and beta-carotene. Astaxanthin helps neutralize free radicals, reducing oxidative stress and cellular damage throughout the body. Free radicals are unstable molecules that are linked to a number of chronic conditions.
Heart
The organic astaxanthin may have cardiovascular benefits. It has been studied for its potential to reduce oxidative stress, lower blood pressure, improve lipid profiles, reduce fat buildup in arteries, and enhance blood flow. These effects contribute to cardiovascular health.
Cognition
The ability of astaxanthin to cross the blood-brain barrier has led to investigations into its potential cognitive benefits. Studies suggest it may have neuroprotective effects for the aging brain, potentially reducing the risk of neurodegenerative conditions and supporting cognitive function.
Vision
Organic astaxanthin has a particular affinity for the eyes and may support eye health. It crosses the blood-retinal barrier and accumulates in the retina, where it helps protect against oxidative damage to retinal cells. Research suggests that astaxanthin may support macular function and overall visual acuity.
Anti-Inflammatory
The antioxidant supplement has demonstrated anti-inflammatory properties, helping to modulate the body’s inflammatory response. This makes it potentially beneficial for conditions characterized by chronic inflammation, such as arthritis. The anti-inflammatory effects contribute to its overall health-promoting properties.
Skin
The carotenoid is also known for its skin benefits. It may help protect the skin from UV radiation-induced damage, reduce the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, age spots, and atopic dermatitis, while improving skin elasticity. The ability of astaxanthin to quench free radicals contributes to its potential role in promoting a youthful complexion.
Muscle Endurance and Recovery
Some research suggests that astaxanthin may improve muscle endurance and recovery. Athletes and individuals engaged in physical activities may benefit from its ability to improve athletic performance by increasing endurance and reducing muscle damage. A study published in the journal “Nutrition” found that athletes who took astaxanthin were able to exercise for longer periods of time and recover more quickly from exercise.
Joints
Astaxanthin may contribute to joint health by reducing inflammation and oxidative stress. This makes it a potential supplement for individuals dealing with movement conditions.
Immune System
It can support the immune system by enhancing the activity and increasing the production of immune cells. The antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties contribute to overall immune function, helping the body defend against infections.
